| Young people's outward giving |
|
| |
Outward giving is an important feature of our ministry with young people. It nurtures an awareness of, and generosity towards, situations and events in our world which are beyond our own experiences. It also encourages all the young people to work together using their gifts, imagination and energy.
Our first major project of this kind was set up 3 years ago in response to the plight of the 'sewer children' in Mongolia, highlighted by the Christina Noble Charitable Foundation. We hoped then to raise £340 to buy one ger (a traditional tent-like home). In fact, our young people have raised over £9,000 - enough for 25 gers!
Two 24-hour musicathons, two craft days, sponsored bike-rides, bag-packing in supermarkets, saving pocket money, a lot of baking and other events certainly bring the parable of the talents to mind, and it takes on a double meaning.
We are tremendously proud of our young people's commitment, enthusiasm and hard work. For further information, please contact Sharon Sissons on 607149. |
