We split that 3 ways. A tithe group was appointed to make recommendations for 3 projects similar to ours - ie for community involvement, working with young people, and evangelism (not just about buildings). We told about seven mission organisations that we had money to give. Some didn't even reply!
SAMS picked the 'best match' for us in South America - St Andrew's Cathedral, Paraguay. Interserve sent 10 ideas, with Kyrgyzstan our unanimous choice. For Africa, there was a strong lobby to develop the link with the Cure Int'l hospital, Malawi.
So we put these forward to the PCC, and they were approved in January 2004.
We also support a variety of other projects via other means. |
