Beit Trust Hospital, Malawi

LATEST NEWS!
The last instalment of our tithe money has paid for the building of this rondavel,
a short distance from the children's ward and adjacent to the play area. It will be used for ministry, bible study and friendship, mainly by child patients and their guardians and patient attendants, who will feel relaxed and comfortable away from the hospital ward and in a building similar to the homes many of them are used to in the rural areas where they live.

This hospital is run by the charity Cure International, set up in 1996 to establish and operate teaching hospitals in the developing world for the medical and spiritual healing of disabled children and their families.

Holy Trinity is delighted to support their Beit Trust Hospital in Malawi's capital, Blantyre, which offers high-quality care for children who need corrective surgery; conducts research; trains doctors and surgeons, and in so doing demonstrates Christianity in action.

The hospital operates in the third world with first-world medical standards - combining physical healing with an emphasis on healing children's bodies, minds and spirits. The hospital tranforms lives - literally (scroll down to see images).

The hospital has a 50-bed children's ward, 16 semi-private rooms and two operating theatres. It concentrates on elective reconstructive surgery in children, including club feet, angular deformities such as bow legs and knock knees, malunited and ununited fractures, osteomyelitis, septic arthritis and TB of the spine.

Jim Harrison (medical director) and Stuart Palmer (executive director) have both visited Holy Trinity recently and shown us incredible pictures of their work. In the summer of 2005, Holy Trinity sent a delegation from our CYFA youth group (now Exodus) to visit the hospital.
