December 2005
Mixed feelings of sadness and celebration accompany the news that David Mann will be leaving us to take up a post at Church House, London on 1st March 2006.
David will be the new selection secretary/pre-theological education advisor for the Church of England, and therefore steps away (for the time being, at least) from being a parish priest.
The announcement was made by Margaret Sentamu, senior selection secretary, Ministry Division, Church of England.
The Venerable Dr Gordon Kuhrt, director of ministry for the Church of England, said of the announcement "We are delighted that a person of such ability and history has applied and been appointed. David was a brilliant candidate in a powerful field of candidates."
David is already very well known to many in the Selection Unit at Church House - he is the assistant DDO, Ripon & Leeds, an experienced Bishops' adviser, and serves on the Candidates Panel. You can find out more about the Ministry Division here.
He came to Holy Trinity 12 years ago, and has seen the church through some of the most dramatic changes in its history as a result of the recent reordering and refurbishment of the building both upstairs and downstairs. This project won Holy Trinity a national award in November 2005.
David's sermons and holistic approach to worship will be sorely missed. We will continue to enjoy them until the middle of Febuary, when he will leave us with our blessings and best wishes for the future. |
