| IT'S HOME-MADE, IT'S SOCIABLE, AND IT'S GREAT VALUE!
Our Thursday Lunches started back in 1989 as Lent lunches, but in 1994 we decided to do them every week - and they have grown even more dramatically since the recent refurbishment of the church and The Arches. There is also a special Christmas lunch every year.
Between 60 and 90 people lunch with us each week - from parents and child minders with young children to people who work in town and come during their lunch hour, to people who attend the Mind drop-in centre and retired people. Some attend church regularly, others only come to the lunches. Everyone is welcome!
All courses are priced separately, and you can get a full lunch for £4. We begin with soup, followed by a choice of two main courses (of which one is a vegetarian option). There is a selection of hot and cold desserts, cakes, cheese and fruit - all followed by tea and coffee.
A large proportion of our profits go to various charities - usually around £1500. We sponsor 3 children in Bolivia on a monthly basis with World Vision, and we support other charities with one-off payments. This year these have included Water Aid, the earthquake in Pakistan, and Teddy's car appeal in Zimbabwe.
