Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

For security reasons we are unable to name the church or its staff. Communication with this church is not easy. Please pray for them.

This is a free evangelical church with a heart for the community - yet it didn't even have a church building.

The congregation had to move out of its rented premises, and churches are not permitted to rent state properties. So a project was urgently required to build a church in one of the Microdistrict (ex-Soviet bloc) apartment buildings and use it as a centre for the community, with lunches for the needy pensioners, rooms for youth work, etc.

John Rutter from Holy Trinity Ripon visited the project in November 2004. Building began in the summer of 2004; at present, the outside is complete, and the inside is ready for worship although there is still work to do.

Current p rayer requests:

  • Pastor Sasha and Larissa
  • The growing work with young people
  • The security of the building
  • The political situation
  • Finishing the building
  • Openness to the gospel in the face of growing prosperity
  • Outreach to both the elderly and youth in the community
  • that a leader can be found to support the work in the church
  • that people develop a heart to serve in the church
  • for wisdom for the pastor, in how to lead the church
  • for the English club starting in September, that it will be successful and many people get in contact with the church
  • for a new homegroup in September
  • to be able to purchase land close to the church to prevent being obscured by development
